Wal-Mart will soon begin stocking morning-after contraception pills. Recently, the company had said it wouldn't carry them, but now says it can't justify being the country's only major pharmacy chain not to carry the pill.

Last month, Massachusetts ordered the retailer to stock the so-called Plan B pill. Illinois also requires pharmacies to carry it. Those are the only two states so far where Wal-Mart stocks it.

A company official says Wal-Mart expects more states to require the company to sell the pill. Because of that, and the fact that it's FDA approved, Wal-Mart is changing its policy.

However the company says it will maintain its conscientious objection policy, except where it is banned. The policy allows any Wal-Mart or Sam's Club pharmacy employee who does not feel comfortable dispensing a prescription to refer customers to another pharmacist or pharmacy.
