The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Julie L. Gerberding, MD, is urging the general public to get vaccinations for the approaching flu season.

The urgent immunization message was issued by experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and CDC. Officials from these groups joined a press conference held by the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases in partnership with the National Influenza Vaccine Summit at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C
