Glaxo Wins Federal Approval For Rotavirus Vaccine

Drug maker GlaxoSmithKline announced Thursday that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a vaccine to stop the leading cause of diarrhea in infants. The Rotarix vaccine is primarily used to prevent rotavirus gastroenteritis in infants.

The vaccine will offer protection against the most commonly circulating rotavirus types in the U.S. and allow infants to complete the vaccination series by four months of age. Swiss Firm Develops New Injection That Controls High Blood Pressure
