The Food and Drug Administration says Friday that two more women have died after taking the abortion pill known as RU-486 or Mifeprex.

Reuters reports the FDA has not yet determined what caused the latest fatalities.

Previously, four reported deaths were linked to a bacterial infection that developed after the women took Mifeprex.

The FDA says in a statement, "At this time we are investigating all circumstances associated with these cases."

The abortion pill is sold by privately-held Danco Laboratories. It can be used to terminate a pregnancy of less than 49 days.
