Two additional deaths have been reported among women who took the RU-486 abortion pill, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

Last year, the U.S. determined that four previous deaths of women who took the pill, made by New York-based Danco Laboratories, were the result of severe bacterial infections.

The FDA is warning doctors to watch for a rare but deadly infection implicated in four of the earlier deaths.

The women died of an infection of the bloodstream, or sepsis. The FDA says the women didn't follow approved instructions for taking the pill.
