By studying a process called "autophagy", researchers are trying to unearth the most efficient and effective way of treating cancers. Autophagy which means self-eating, is a process by which a starving cell eats itself to survive.

According to a report on the Houston Chronicle website, cancer researchers are trying to exploit this capability of cells in treating various cancers that otherwise survives the harsh chemotherapy treatments
