Gatineau City officials on Sunday lifted the boil water advisory it had issued to 45,000 residents.

The advisory was lifted after a tap water sample analysis met drinking water quality benchmarks. But residents were told to first open all cold water faucets and let the water run for one minute or until cold water flows. The same safety procedure was advised for drinking water fountains and outdoor faucets, including those that use garden hoses.

The advisory was issued Friday after a water main valve burst, affected parts of the Gatineau sector east of Blvd. Greber, west of Ave. du Cheval-Blanc, south of Chem. Saint-Thomas, north of the railroad track, east of Ave. du Cheval-Blanc, west of Montee Mineault, north of the Ottawa River and south of Chem. Industriel.

The city is known for its Gatineau Park, the only federal park not protected by the National Parks Act.
