According to Bandung's Hasan Sadikin general hospital staff member Herdi, blood samples from the woman have been sent for testing in the capital Jakarta.
Official said two tests samples must show positive for the H5N1 string virus before a victim is confirmed to have infected by bird flu. Indonesia has the highest in the world for bird flu death cases at 85.
The suspected woman, who died on Saturday, was showing symptoms of bird flu infection, such fever, coughing, breathing difficulties and low red blood count.
Herdi did not elaborate any further details but records showed victim fell sick a few days after one of her pet birds died. The disease usually occurs after direct contact from birds to humans.
The kind of bird involved has not been identified.
If the woman is confirmed to have been infected with the H5N1 strain of the virus, she will be the 86th human fatality in the country.
