| As Nursing Week begins Sunday, the government and Canadians are concerned about what appears to be declining nursing care. But nurses too are complaining of bullying and intimidation on the job. A finding by the Ontario Health Coalition that care in nursing homes did not move at 2.85 hours per resident for the past three years has prompted Health Minister George Smitherman to order tougher controls be placed | | Six to nine hours of sleep are the recommended length of time to a healthier body. The window hours were determined by a study conducted by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The study, released Wednesday, linked excessive or lack of sleep to obesity. According to the academy's door-to-door survey of 87,000 American adults between 2004 to 2006, 33 percent of those who slept less than six hours had excess weight, while 26 percent of those whose shuteyes went beyond nine hours similarly were obese | | At least 10 million children under age five die annually from treatable ailments, mostly in developing countries, because they lack basic health care needs, a U.S.-based non-profit organization said Wednesday. According to Save the Children, poor children face the risk of dying at a younger age compared to children in wealthier countries | | Even when pregnant, more than 52 percent of French women still drink alcohol, a new study found. The study also found that the majority of these women don't know that drinking alcohol isn't good for their baby's health.
