Professor Bernard Stewart of the University of South Wales revealed that, based on his studies, a number of previously believed causes of cancer may be ruled out of the danger list. These included such things as artificial sweeteners, breast implants, dental fillings, and fluoridated water. t.
Prof. Stewart conducted the experiment by ranking more than 60 believed causes of cancer into categories such as "proven", "likely", "inferred", "unknown", and "unlikely."
Among those he identified as likely to cause cancer included smoking, solarium use, ingestion of too much processed meats, and living near garbage dumps.
Those less likely to cause the disease included hair dyes, living near power lines, cosmetics use, and food additives.
The research is to be published Monday in the journal Mutation Research Reviews, to coincide with the World Cancer Day.
