Six people in a hospital in Japan succumbed to a multi-drug resistant bacteria Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, which prompted an investigation to determine whether the patients contracted the bacteria at the hospital or not.

Since September 2006, 13 people have been treated for the apparently fatal bacteria at the Sapporo Medical University-Hospital in Hokkaido.

Pseudomonas Aeruginosa is a common bacteria found in moist ground and water, usually not contagious to a healthy human body. But it can develop into an infection when an individual has a weak immune system.
