Nicole Draper was 7 1/2 months pregnant when she learned the twins she was carrying would be born with heart muscles too weak to pump the blood crucial for their survival.

Her sons, Nicholas and Nathaniel, are now two weeks old, and doctors say their chances of survival are good, only if they receive heart transplants within the next three to six months.

The twins suffer from dilated cardiomyopathy, an extremely rare condition, especially for twins.

On Monday, Nicole and her husband Michael pled for organ donations that could save their lives.

Nicholas is already on a list of prospective recipients, and his brother is expeceted to be added very soon. They will receive hearts in the order they come in.

Dr. Mark Plunkett says he believes the boys will need transplants in the next few months if they do not improve dramatically.

Without the transplants, other organs could fail and further jeopardize their health.
