Young children, mostly under the age of four, are the target of an outbreak of shigellosis for the past six months in St. Louis, Missouri. Shigellosis is an infectious disease that isn't fatal, but can cause severe flu-like symptoms.
An estimated of 1,648 people state wide have become ill, with most of the patients age 4 and younger. The disease has also hit parents and teachers, as well as kids and adults to visit day-care centers
