Young women all around Swaziland burned their tassels today as King Mswati III ended a six-year sex band in the African country.

Swaziland, a country with one of the highest rates of HIV infections in the world, had teenage girls wear large woolen tassels as a sign of their chastity since 2001. The sex ban was imposed to fight a further spread of HIV and Aids.

If propositioned by a man, the girls were supposed to throw the tassels outside his house and his family would have to pay a fine of one cow.

No official reason has been given as to why the sex ban was ended a year early.
