Nestle Recalls 215,660 Pounds Of Hot Pockets Pepperoni Pizza

Nestle Prepared Foods Company is voluntarily recalling about 215,660 pounds of frozen stuffed pepperoni pizza sandwich products because the product might contain small pieces of hard red plastic and other foreign material.

The recall involves 54-ounce, 12-pack cartons of Hot Pockets Pepperoni Pizza brand stuffed sandwiches. Printed on the side of each carton is "8157544614D," "EST 7721A" and "Best Before JAN2010

Tap Water Safe To Drink Again In Gatineau, Quebec

Gatineau City officials on Sunday lifted the boil water advisory it had issued to 45,000 residents.

The advisory was lifted after a tap water sample analysis met drinking water quality benchmarks. But residents were told to first open all cold water faucets and let the water run for one minute or until cold water flows. The same safety procedure was advised for drinking water fountains and outdoor faucets, including those that use garden hoses

Greenpeace Warns: Beware Of Fruits, Veggies From Germany

Quebec Criticized For Not Participating In Canadian Health Initiatives

This is not the first time the francophone province has opted out of national healthcare programs, pointed out Globe and Mail columnist Andre Picard. Beef Recall Widens As Listeria Outbreak Kills 1, Sickens 16 In Canada

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) reported Wednesday the first fatality from the deadly bacteria Listeria monocytogenes while 16 people in four provinces suffered listeriosis.

The outbreak is not yet linked to a contaminated batch of roast and corned beef ordered recalled last week by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). But Maple Leaf Consumer Foods, supplier of Sure Slice brand packaged beef, expanded the recall to include its other ready-to-eat deli meats manufactured since June 2. The meat products were distributed to fast food restaurants, institutions, nursing homes, hospitals and supermarket delis across Canada
