Although it has confirmed having an "informal meeting" with British billionaire Sir Richard Branson, Camden Primary Care Trust has denied that Sir Richard's company planned to launch a private bid to run a new polyclinic in the borough.

According to a Gulf Times report, Virgin Healthcare has shown interest working with GPs to help develop more integrated services for patients.

After being organized to run at least one "supersurgery" in Camden, the report added that Virgin Healthcare met officers of the NHS trust in January to discuss a new polyclinic based at University College Hospital in London.

However, some critics reportedly detested the planned agreement, saying they don't like the idea of polyclinics being managed by the private sector.

If the proposal to run polyclinics in London pushes through, it would be the latest addition to Branson's empire of airlines, trains and mobile phones.
