Hong Kong Warns Of Glass Fragments In French Wine

New Study Links Alcohol Consumption To Risk Of Breast Cancer

More than three alcohol drinks a day increases the risk of breast cancer in women by 30 percent, a study has found. The risk is same in case of every alcoholic drink, be it wine, beer or liquor.

Researcher Yan Li of the Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program, in Oakland, Calif., told WebMD, "It doesn't matter if you drink red wine or white wine. If you are a heavy drinker -- more than three drinks a day -- you will have an additional 30% risk of breast cancer

Wine Drinkers May Be At Greater Risk Of Bowel Cancer

Contrary to widespread advice that regular but modest consumption of red wine can help protect against heart attacks, a major European study has found that people who drink wine or beer on daily basis are at a greater risk of bowel cancer than the non-drinkers.

Dark Chocolate Helps Lower Blood Pressure

A German study has found that people who ate just over 6 grams of dark chocolate daily for almost five months were successfully able to lower their high blood pressure readings, thus cutting down the risks of stroke.

Dark chocolate seems to lower blood pressure but the amount of chocolate involves one square from a German chocolate bar called Ritter Sport, equal to about 1 1/2 Hershey's Kisses.

Though the reductions in the readings of blood pressure with dark chocolate were small but it was still good enough to potentially reduce cardiovascular disease risks. The researchers tracked just 44 people aged 56 through 73 and the results were similar to other small studies of cocoa-containing foods, which contain flavanols - plant-based compounds credited with giving red wine its heart-healthy benefits
