"The present study suggests beneficial associations between maternal apple intake during pregnancy and wheeze and asthma at age five years," say researchers.
Researchers say the children of mothers who ate apples had a significantly reduced risk for the development of asthma.
In study published in the journal Thorax, researchers have studied dietary intake of nearly 2,000 pregnant women then examined its effects on their kids.
"The findings suggest an apple specific effect, possibly because of its phytochemical content, such as flavonoids," researchers explained in a press release.
