Customers should be alerted to another possible food danger as the voluntary recall of Wellsley Farms brand mushrooms was made in Natick, MA.

Routine testing resulted in the possibility of a trace of E. coli contamination in one of the lot codes of this brand's mushrooms.

The wholesale club, BJ's has voluntarily recalled several types of the pre-packaged Wellsley Farms brand mushrooms as a precautionary step until confirmation and resolution.

The recall includes several pre-packaged Wellsley Farms brand mushrooms: the Sliced Mushrooms (20 oz., SKU 016377), the Fresh White Mushrooms (24 oz., SKU 016375), the Fresh Portabella Caps (16 oz., SKU 016573), and the Fresh Baby Bella Caps (10 oz., SKU 016572).

There have no reports yet of any illnesses from the possible and potentially dangerous foodborne contamination.

There have been several recent incidences of foodborne illnesses related to various contaminated food products in the U.S. The possible contaminations have varied. However, several have been identified in the vegetable produce, and the health risks can be very dangerous.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is responsible for 20 percent of food in the U.S., whereas the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is responsible for the other 80 percent. However, there are no mandatory recalls for foods. All food producers and distributors are responsible for their own voluntary recalls. Most companies are willing to do so.

In response to so many recent illnesses occurring from foodborne contaminations, the Environmental Protection Agency is currently considering a new "Safe Food Act," according to CNN.
