One hundred and sixteen people are reported to have contracted the severe form of E. coli. More than 50 were hospitalized, and nine people, including six children, have had to undergo dialysis.
Victims are reporting severe and bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and vomiting.
While investigators are searching for the cause, they have found one common link. Reports say that all of the victims had recently dined at the Country Cottage Restaurant located in Locust Grove.
With the restaurant at the center of their investigation, health officials are now working to decipher whether the bacteria is coming from the food or the water from a local well used by restaurant employees.
