The Russians have taken steps to contain the outbreak as investigators closed the market from which the dead poultry were traced, as they investigate to determine the origination of the birds being sold from this store.
The Russian experts have reported new outbreaks of the H5N1 bird flu strain and they have set up tighter quarantines.
The tests for the bird flu were confirmed on Saturday. According to the AP report, this is the first outbreak that has been recorded as being so close to the capital of Russia.
So far the people who have been in close contact with the dead poultry were taken to local hospitals and have been under observation. No ill-related health problems have occurred.
There have not been any human cases of bird flu reported in Russia. Although it is believed to be difficult to transmit the bird flu from the poultry to a human, worldwide health authorities are carefully monitoring the possibility and the global situation as cases continue to break out among the birds and cause for concern is prevalent.
