A total $100 million of the grants are intended for the creation and expansion of primary care services in hospitals, nursing homes and health clinics identified by the Berger Commission, which studied the overhauling of the state's health care system in 2006.
The remainder of the money will be made available to hospitals and nursing homes not named by the commission.
The deadline for the application of grants was set to April 3 and 17. Projects eligible for funding include construction of new facilities; renovation and upgrading of facilities; procurement of medical, dental and lab equipment; and staff training.
