Lacrossetribune.com reported on Monday that the U.S. Agriculture Department's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced on Saturday the recall issued by the Rochester Meat Co. of Rochester for its beef patties produced on Oct. 30 and Nov. 6.
The patties are believed contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, which can cause bloody diarrhea and dehydration particularly to young and old people with weak immune system.
An investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services and the California Department of Public Health traced five illnesses in the two states to the Rochester meat.
