Malaysia To Produce First Halal Meningitis Vaccination

Within two years, Malaysia will produce the world's first halal meningitis vaccination. The $1.06 million USD (3.6 million MYR) research project, jointly run by the Universiti Sains Malaysia and the Finlay Institute in Cuba, expects to benefit millions of Muslims who annually troop to Saudi Arabia for the Haj pilgrimage.

Meningococcal Disease Cases Diagnosed In Sydney And Wellington

The Northern Sydney Central Coast Health (NSCCH) public health unit was notified of two separate and unrelated cases of meningococcal disease in the northern Sydney area on Thursday.

The two new cases have brought it to a total of three people suffering from the potentially fatal disease in the Sydney region. A toddler, with the same disease, was taken to a western Sydney hospital on Wednesday, where he was treated with antibiotics
