The American Urological Association invented a medicine named dapoxetine to help men tackle premature ejaculation playing a spoilsport in their sex lives. The medicine has been unveiled at an annual meeting of the association on Monday.

The scientists of the American Urological Association claimed that men suffering from premature ejaculation are increasing in number.

The association carried out a survey to find out that between 27 per cent and 34 per cent of males of all age groups are suffering from premature ejaculation.

"The impact premature ejaculation can have on men and their partners can be devastating for a relationship and, currently, there are no truly optimal therapies for PE," Doctor Jon Pryor, the chief urologist at the University of Minnesota told reporters.

Doctor Pryor conducted the dapoxetine's clinical trials. 2,614 men aged between 18 and 77 were administered the medicine.

According to the scientists of the association, each received 30 milligrams or 60 milligrams of dapoxetine over 12 weeks in two identical placebo-controlled trials.

The drug facilitates prolonged intercourse three to four times. Not only that, dapoxetine enhanced their staying power with the first dose and helped maintain the growth over the entire study period, the scientists revealed.
