Donda West Death Sparks Tighter Regulations Over Cosmetic Procedures

The death of Kanye West's mother six months ago while undergoing liposuction and breast surgery has prompted two California legislators to push for tighter rules on plastic surgeries.

Among the measures being proposed by Sen. Mark Ridley-Thomas, chairman of the state Senate Committee on Business, Professions and Economic Development, are regular inspections of smaller clinics where such cosmetic procedures are being performed. U.S. President George Bush has signed the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (GINA) into law on Wednesday, hoping to avoid future discrimination based on a person's biological composition.

Circuit Court Of Appeals Decision On Virginia Case Declares Late Term Abortions Constitutional

Virginia's ban on late-term abortions was declared unconstitutional on Tuesday by the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

An 11-year-old boy's refusal to undergo chemotherapy despite doctor's orders challenged Canada's bioethics as the debate heats up over the right to ignore conventional wisdom and seek alternative therapies.
