The association's Committee on Obstetric Practice singled out Paxil (also known as paroxetine) saying the drug has been linked to some problems with the baby.
Exposure to depression medicine late in pregnancy has recently been seen to cause short-term problems in newborns. According to the Detroit Free Press, those problems include mild respiratory distress, excessively rapid respiration, jitteriness, poor muscle tone and readmission to the hospital.
The news comes after a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warning told consumers not to mix Paxil and pregnancy, calling the drug harmful to human fetuses.
