Thai Man Dies Of Avian Flu

Governement officials confirm a 48-year-old man died of bird flu in Thailand after eating a neighbor's infected chickens smuggled in from China.

More than 60 people have died of Avian flu since late 2003, all of them in Asia. This fatality is the first in Thailand in about a year. Most human cases have been linked to contact with sick birds, but health officials warn the virus could mutate into a form that can be easily passed between humans, possibly triggering a global pandemic

Tamiflu Auction Cancelled

Bidding on Roche Holding AG's flu drug Tamiflu has been halted on British Internet auction site eBay. The company pulled the sale of the drug after prices topped 100 pounds ($174) as fears grow over the spread of bird flu.

A spokeswoman for eBay says the auction on its British site has been stopped because the sale of prescription drugs is prohibited under the company's rules, "The Tamiflu listings on eBay.co.uk were removed from the site as soon as we became aware of them. We do not permit the listing of any controlled drug or item that requires a prescription
