"Taking a few minutes to make sure you have the proper vaccinations will give a better chance of avoiding any dangerous medical problems when you're far from home," said Debra Amos, a travel nurse with The Methodist Hospital Wellness Services in Houston.
"There are a lot of diseases that pose a potential risk in this part of the world," Amos said, according to Medical News Today.
The three-shot Twinrix vaccination covers Hepatitis A and B infection. A typhoid vaccination is recommended to prevent infection from food.
Visitors planning outdoor activities may do well with immunization from the Japanese and tick-borne encephalitis. Immunization against rabies gives protection especially to young children.
Travelers to China may also want to check on routine vaccinations such as tetanus/diphtheria, measles, pneumococcal, polio and varicella.
