The study polled 24,000 respondents in seven Asian cities including Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines. The researchers found that 79.5 percent of respondents consider high blood pressure as their top health concern followed by high cholesterol (70.8 percent) and diabetes (70 percent).
At least 50 percent of those polled in the Philippines said that cancer and blindness were also a major health issue.
The study showed that top ailments among the Filipinos include high blood pressure (71.1 percent) arthritis (56.4 percent), high cholesterol (54.6 percent), sight problems (52.1 percent), weight problems or obesity (39.9 percent) and diabetes (38.9 percent).
Heart and sight problems, as well as arthritis and tuberculosis are among the most common illnesses in the Philippines because of a high-fat diet.
The same survey also revealed that Filipinos consider themselves as the most stressed in Asia with 43 percent of respondents admitting to stress. Hong Kong is ranked second. The regional average is 30 percent. The least stressed are folks from India at 22 percent.
