The Hershey Company is recalling 7.25-ounce plastic bottles of Hershey's Chocolate Shell Topping because it contains almonds that aren't noted on the label.

Grocery store chain Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. on Friday alerted its customers of the voluntary recall by the Hershey's Chocolate Shell Topping that can be poured over ice cream.

The company said the almonds were not included in an ingredient list for the ice cream topping and the people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds runs the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product, according to Hershey's news release posted on the FDA's web site Friday.

The product is safe for consumption for consumers who do not have an allergy or sensitivity to almonds, it added. No illness is linked to the product. No Hershey confectionery items or other shell toppings are involved in this recall. The Hershey Company says it issued the voluntary recall after a consumer reported the issue.
