New York, NY (AHN)-A new study suggests that children with arthritis have a significantly increased risk of fracture in childhood, adolescence, and possibly adulthood.

In the study of 1939 children diagnosed with arthritis between the age of 1 and 9 years and 207,072 healthy control children, significantly more fractures were recorded in the children with arthritis than in control children.

London, England (AHN)-Richard Feachem, executive director of the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria, says research revealing the protective effect of circumcision against HIV is increasingly being seen as a lifesaving procedure which every parent would want for their sons.

According to the report, removing the foreskin is thought to harden the glans (head) of the penis, making it less permeable to viruses, with research conducted in 2005 showing the transmission of HIV from women to men during sex reduced by 60 percent if the men were circumcised.

Report: Sugary Drinks Can Cause Obesity

The study which was published for scientific review in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition said that an extra can of soda can contribute to 15 pounds in a single year, and the "weight of evidence" strongly indicates that the increased of soft drinks consumption is the main reason more people have gained weight.
