The agencies say health care errors seriously harm one in every 10 patients. Such information sharing will enable everyone to learn from the mistakes of others.
The World Health Organization is establishing the first WHO Collaborating Center dedicated solely to patient safety - including the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, which accredits U.S. hospitals, and Joint Commission International.
The center will focus worldwide attention on the best practices to reduce safety risks to patients and coordinate international efforts to share these practices in as many regions as possible.
