Each move is an effort to limit the spread of bird flu. The latest case was confirmed in a parrot in Britain, a first for that region | | Governement officials confirm a 48-year-old man died of bird flu in Thailand after eating a neighbor's infected chickens smuggled in from China. More than 60 people have died of Avian flu since late 2003, all of them in Asia. This fatality is the first in Thailand in about a year. Most human cases have been linked to contact with sick birds, but health officials warn the virus could mutate into a form that can be easily passed between humans, possibly triggering a global pandemic | | UNICEF warns Wednesday that tens of thousands of children are in danger in remote earthquake-affected parts of Pakistan, because of deteriorating weather, injury, and illness. The agency says immediate action must be taken to increase the number of children being reached, in order for another wave of deaths to be avoided during the harsh winter months just around the corner. As many as 10,0000 could die of hunger, hypothermia and disease within coming weeks | | In discussions regarding the bird flu pandemic, officials conclude the EU is well-equipped to protect its citizens.
