Male Genital Hygiene May Lower HIV Risk

According to a recent report in the September issue of Journal of AIDS, maintaining regular genital hygiene in males may reduce the risk of HIV infection. The study is based on the previous findings that have linked male circumcision with the reduced prevalence of HIV.

HPV Could Interfere With In Vitro Fertilization

A new study suggests that Human papillomavirus (HPV) may make it more difficult to conceive with in vitro fertilization (IVF). The study that was published in the journal Fertility and Sterility, only 17 women in the group of more than 100 tested positive for HPV.

Number of Cases of Herpes Type 2 Down

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say herpes type 2 virus is declining in the country. A new study found a significant decrease in cases in Americans between the ages of 14 and 49.

Herpes 2 is the most common cause of genital herpes, and is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases. The study found that the number of people who tested positive for the disease is down by 19 percent since 1994

Rate Of Genital Herpes Infections Declined

A new study finds about one in six Americans has genital herpes infections, a decrease from the previous decade when the number of cases was rising.

Seventeen percent of people in the U.S. had the genital herpes virus from 1999 to 2004. This is down from the 21 percent who had it from 1988 to 1994.

FDA Approves First One-Day Treatment For Genital Herpes
