The health ministry says the girl, who has the last name Tang, is the fourth human bird flu case in China since last month, reports the official Xinhua News Agency.
Her symptoms emerged Nov. 23 and include fever and pneumonia. She has undergone emergency treatment, Xinhua says.
Two female farmers in the eastern province of Anhui died of the disease last month after coming in contact with sick birds. A 9-year-old boy in central Henan province was also infected but has since recovered.
China has reported 25 cases of bird flu in poultry since Oct. 19. It has culled and vaccinated tens of millions of chickens, ducks and geese in an effort to prevent an epidemic.
