An astronaut's breakfast tends to be light fare, as it is not recommended the crew eat too excessively, especially since they will be strapped in for nearly four hours before the flight.
The menu is varied and offers healthy choices. Eileen Collins had whole wheat toast and mixed fruit, while Jim Kelly had mixed fruit and Steve Robinson had mixed fruit and a chicken sandwich.
Soichi Noguchi preferred a heavier meal, opting for fruit and steak sandwich. Andy Thomas had an egg muffin, while Wendy Lawrence had english muffin and fruit and Charlie Camarda had a chicken sandwich.
The crew was given their meal roughly ten hours before the launch of Space Shuttle Discovery.
