People living in the town of Yarloop, near Alcoa Australia's Wagerup refinery in Western Australia state, have complained of respiratory problems, skin irritation, sore throats and eyes, extreme fatigue, mental dysfunction, stomach upset, blood noses, cancers and organ failure for 11 years.
They claim emissions from the refinery are to blame - a charge the company disputes.
Australian Associated Press reported on Monday that Ms Brockovich and her law firm Masry and Vititoe were reviewing the case after being contacted by the residents.
"I am working and looking into the Alcoa case," she said.
It is the first time Brockovich has taken a case in Australia.
Alcoa denies there is any reason for concern, but is now considering buying back 400 homes in the area, the Australian Broadcasting Corp said adding that some residents want to move.
