Soy May Not Change Cholesterol Levels

Eating soy, veggie burgers and tofu may not have the beneficial effects on your health as many believe. After reviewing a decade of studies on soy's benefits, an American Heart Association committee concludes soy didn't reduce "bad" cholesterol all that much - and had no effect on "good" cholesterol.

The panel also found that did not reduce symptoms of menopause, such as "hot flashes." The findings could lead the Food and Drug Administration to re-evaluate rules that currently allow companies to claim soy-based foods lower cholesterol
