A study on the effectiveness of liquid nicotine on 60 volunteers starts next month for 90 days.

The clinical trial will be held at the Tommy G. Thompson Youth Center at Wisconsin State Fair Park, WISN 12 News reported.

According to Smoke-Break inventor Brett Roth, liquid nicotine is a colorless, cherry tasting gel spiked with nicotine.

Roth, who just received a government go signal to begin testing, claims it broke his cigarette habit after two decades of smoking.

"For 20 years, I was getting toxic smoke, so I was used to some sort of a kick, and I liked that. So even though it's cherry flavored and it's very sweet, it does have a kick, and it felt like I was still smoking," Roth was quoted by WISN.

"It's less than two calories each, fat free and about one-third of a carbohydrate," said Roth who is collaborating with retired cancer specialist Dr. Nicholas Geimer.
