Early Stage Multiple Sclerosis Patients May Benefit From Interferon Therapy

A study by researchers from University Hospital in Basel, Switzerland has revealed that patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (MS) may benefit from early and long-term treatment with interferon beta-1a. Furthermore, the MRI scans of the patients undergoing the therapy showed a delay in long-term disease progression.

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease, which occurs when the body's defense system starts attacking a crucial proteinacious layer on the nerves, resulting in serious movement problems and other symptoms.
