Nicotine Water Headed Back To Shelves

After being removed from the market by the FDA in 2002, the makers of "Nicotine Water" are back, claiming the product is a "smoking alternative."

Launched in 1998, "Nicotine Water" maker Global Beverage Innovations says the product now meets the FDA requirement that it be reformulated as a dietary supplement. The company Monday announced two versions of "Nicotine Water" that are equivalent to three cigarettes. One includes tabacco along with nicotine while the other has 84 percent less nicotine

United States Environmental Protection Agency officials told AHN Media Corp. on Friday that the proposed ban on detectable residue of the pesticide carbofuran on food crops it announced Thursday is only the beginning because the agency plans to ban use of carbofuran in the future.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Thursday it will ban the pesticide carbofuran on domestic or imported food, in effect prohibiting the chemical in the U.S.

The agency imposed the ban because its chemical residue has unacceptable safety risk to young children. Up to a million pounds of carbofuran are used on U.S. farms annually, but it affects less than 1 percent of the nation's farm lands. British Study Finds Soy Diet Linked To Fertility Problems In Men

A regular diet of even modest amounts of food containing soy has been linked to infertility, particularly in obese men, a new British study suggests. Plant oestrogens in foods such as tofu, soy mince or milk may interfere with hormonal signals increasing estrogen activity, lowering the sperm count in men.
