A new study suggests that four extra stitches can help prevent a lifetime of bladder problems in tens of thousands of women each year who undergo a surgery to fix sagging internal organs.

"It's a very common problem in women, and this is the first time we've been able to demonstrate that an operation can actually prevent urinary incontinence," said Dr. Linda Brubaker of Loyola University, who led the study. Results were published in Thursday's New England Journal of Medicine

Abortion Pill Not Believed to Have Caused Five Deaths

Five women who took the abortion pill RU-486 have died from bacterial infections since its U.S. introduction nearly five years ago, the manufacturer reported on Monday.
