New Drug For Rare Blood Clotting Disorder Approved By FDA

A new biologic drug, Ceprotin (Baxter Healthcare Corp, Deerfield, IL) was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday for the treatment of a rare blood clotting disorder.

Ceprotin was shown to be "effective" for 94 percent of the participants in a trial study. Only six percent of the patients studied had complications due to dosage adjustment needs, yet these patients still experienced effective results

Bausch And Lomb Recalls Contact Lens Solution

The worldwide leaders on contact lens - Bausch and Lomb recalled more than 1 million bottles of contact lens solution after excess levels of iron were discovered in it. It is the second recall from the company in the past 10 months.

Last year, the company recalled its ReNu with MoistureLoc solution after reports surfaced that the solution was linked to a potentially blinding fungus. The company ceased production of its ReNu with MoistureLoc solution at the same plant in Greenville, South Carolina after it received warnings from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in October 2006

Minnesota Bans High School Wrestling Due To Herpes Outbreak
