China Links Teen Pregnancies To Meeting Partners On The Internet

A new report in China is blaming the Web for teen pregnancies. According to a newspaper report, nearly 46 percent of pregnant teens in China's financial capital Shanghai met their partners on the Internet.

The report by Dr. Zhang Zhengrong of Shanghai's No. 411 Hospital also highlights the widespread ignorance among teenagers about sexual health. Almost half of the 20,000 girls who called the city's pregnancy hot line during the past two years said they had sex with boys they met online

Brazil Offer More Birth Control Options To The Poor

In a country that is the world's largest Roman Catholic nation, the government of Brazil announced that it would be adding the "morning after" pill to its birth control program for the poor. The government hopes to shrink unplanned pregnancies among the lower class and keep women from resorting to drastic measures in the conservative country that has banned abortion.

FDA Approves First Birth Control Pill To Suppress Women's Periods Indefinitely

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday has reportedly approved the first birth-control pill that is designed to let women suppress their menstrual cycle indefinitely.

Lybrel, a drug from Madison, New Jersey-based company Wyeth has become the first pill that can be taken daily to halt women's periods indefinitely and prevent pregnancies. It is also the fourth new oral contraceptive that does not follow the standard schedule of 21 daily active pills, followed by seven sugar pills, a formula used to imitate a woman's monthly cycle
