The director of Hanoi's Bach Mai Hospital, where the 22-year-old woman from the northern province of Ha Tay died, said test results confirmed she was infected with the H5N1 virus that causes bird flu.
According to the Malaysian news website e.sinchew-i.com, hospital director Tran Thuy Hanh said the woman was seven months pregnant when she was admitted to the hospital on July 24 and put on a respirator for difficulty in breathing and lung infection.
