The company's analysis 44 patients showed 36 percent of those with a high-risk genetic profile responded to Bioenvision's clofarabine drug. Moreover, 56 percent of patients older than 70 years of age responded to the drug.
Bioenvision did not provide overall results for the first 44 patients, but said it will present full data for the study next year.
The study is monitoring 66 patients who have acute myeloid leukemia and were considering unsuitable for intensive chemotherapy.
