The discovery was made in the southern state of Styria and follows the detection of H5N1 in a dead cat in Germany just last week.
According to the BBC, it is not likely the virus is spreading between cats or will cross over to humans.
The virus has also spread to Poland, while Serbia says it has detected the strain in dead swans.
