| Debunking the myth that physical pleasure is just a young person's game, a new survey has found that many older people are surprisingly willing to do and talk about intimate acts of sex. The study of 3,005 adults, ages 57 to 85 found the majority had an active sex life with a partner or spouse. More than half of sexually active older adults had sex two to three times a month, the same frequency reported among younger adults in a large 1992 national survey | | Scientists in Canada are elated over the successful completion of the first human trial of a DNA-based vaccine to combat multiple sclerosis (MS). The vaccine, BHT-3009 works by reducing the damaging immune system attacks which cause the disease. Researchers from the Montreal Neurological Institute in Canada carried out the trial on 30 patients by injecting three different doses of the vaccine into their muscles over few weeks | | The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has asked a Seattle-based company to halt its gene therapy study after reports that a patient has died. The FDA has not revealed cause of death or any details about the patient who passed away while a member of the gene therapy trial by Targeted Genetics Corp. However, the FDA has confirmed it is launching an investigation into the health and safety of 28 others involved in the study. The FDA said it was investigating if the gene therapy played any role in the death of the patient, which occurred Tuesday | | A survey conducted by Nielsen Media Research in tandem with Reader's Digest show that high blood pressure is the top health concerns among Filipinos followed by high cholesterol and diabetes. The study polled 24,000 respondents in seven Asian cities including Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines. The researchers found that 79.5 percent of respondents consider high blood pressure as their top health concern followed by high cholesterol (70.8 percent) and diabetes (70 percent) | | The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has reportedly issued warning against the consumption of sesame seeds packed by Les Aliments G. Dion for fear that they could be contaminated with salmonella. The warning has been issued to the public in Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia though no case of illnesses associated with the consumption of these products has been reported | |
