A 10-year-old girl in England has to lead a severely restricted lifestyle because she is effectively allergic to the 21st century.

So far doctors have been unsuccessful in explaining why Molly Harrad has such a severe and rare condition, but they have told her parents she would not have suffered from any of her allergies if she'd been born 100 years ago, England's Daily Telegraph reported

Folic Acid May Help With Asthma, Allergy Symptoms, Researchers Say

Folic acid, a vitamin found naturally in green leafy vegetables, beans and nuts, may suppress allergic reactions and lessen the severity of allergy and asthma symptoms, according to Johns Hopkins Children's Center researchers.

While cautioning that it is too early to recommend treating asthma and allergies with folic acid, or vitamin B9, the study adds to previous research suggesting the vitamin can help regulate inflammation

Walgreens Partners To Provide Free Health Care For Newly Unemployed Without Insurance

Therapy Offers New Hope For Peanut Allergy Sufferers

Duke University researchers said they may have established a therapy that could allow people with peanut allergies to tolerate the food.

The therapy works by giving peanut-allergy sufferers tiny amounts of peanuts over a prolonged period of time to build up their tolerance. Peanut allergies kill about 150 people in the United States each year, according to the Duke researchers

Federal Judge Rules Manufacturers, Retailers Can't Sell Children's Items With Phthalates

New York Federal Judge Paul Gardephe upheld Thursday a Congress ban on the sale of toys and other children's items with chemicals that interfere with human hormone system. According to animal tests and some human studies the chemical phthalates are linked with allergies and genital abnormalities in male children.

In August Congress passed a law that prohibited the sale of toys with six types of phthalates effective Feb. 10. But the Consumer Product Safety Commission, which is tasked with enforcing the implementation of the law, declared the legislation only applies to items made after Feb. 10, while stores and manufacturers could dispose their stock which has the chemical often used to soften plastic toys
